I came to South Africa in 1970 and began a career in civil engineering materials working in Karoo, on
the Orange Fish Tunnel, the longest water conveying tunnel in the world (60km long). I then moved to
Port Elizabeth and ran a hot mix asphalt plant and a bituminous emulsion factory.
I have worked all over sub-Saharan Africa, in countries such as Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia and Zambia.
My current position is Director of Marketing for the Much Asphalt Group, a global conglomerate with
interests as far afield as Canada, Australia and the UK.
I am married with four children, two of whom are in London and two studying in South Africa.
